For me it begins with an irrepressible urge to share the vibrating energy and awe that I feel in nature. When I translate that to the canvas, there is an adrenaline-filled anticipation, like stand- ing on the edge of a cliff. Painting is my extreme sport.

I choose oil paint, with all its velvety richness, to capture the sensory experience of wandering through the forest; crushing wintergreen between my fingers to release the burst of cool mint; feet falling on bouncy, electric moss, following a winding path of colours, smells, sounds and textures. After the paint cures, it continues to live wth every brushstroke recorded in glowing ridges, grooves and vivid texture.
