Stand Up for Diabetes

June 25, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$20

Stand Up For Diabetes is an American Diabetes Association Fundraiser produced by Chicago's very own David Vox Mullen.

100% of ticket proceeds will go to the American Diabetes Association.

David Vox Mullen

Chicago's own David Vox Mullen is a Comedian, Improviser, BMI Recording Artist, Singer-Songwriter, Producer & Podcaster. From 1998-2008 he was known as the frontman for the nationally touring rock band "The Slipstream", and then started his comedy career in 2010 training under Second City instructors. Since then, David has shared the stage with the likes of Elayne Boosler, Todd Bridges, Rick Overton, Brian Scolaro, Marc DeCarlo, Rick Hall, Michael Ian Black, and many more. David has been regularly producing and performing standup, improv and sketch comedy for both the stage and film, and his celebrity impressions and original characters are second to none. David's 2022 EP "Undis(C)covered" is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and Pandora.

Katie Phillipson

Katie Phillipson is a comic based in the Chicago area. She has performed all over the midwest, delighting audiences with her sharp, observational humor. Between comedy and working in the makeup industry she spends her spare time hanging out with her sweet, three-legged, diabetic cat

Edward Kerfin

If you can’t tell by listening to him, Ed is a Chicagoan through and through. This south sider is a long-time radio show host and entrepreneur who realized his face for radio works for standup comedy too. Ed’s inspiration comes from finding humor in real-life experiences and his passion for classic comedy and entertainment. You can find him touring the Chicagoland area live, on TV and radio, and on the east coast for a comedy special this summer.

Maryellen Raimondi

Maryellen moved to the big city 13 years ago for improv and acting. She performed for many years, but life happens! With the suggestion of a dear improv friend, she tried stand-up for the very first time, in February of 2020. We all know how this shit sails...! Through the storm came the birth of her podcast, "In The Shower With Maryellen!" Be a doll, pass the loofah, and subscribe to her YouTube! xO! Diabetes has effected her life because she was once 230lbs. Doctor told her she was borderline diabetic and needed to lose weight. Lost a bunch, but hoping to never go down the diabetic corkscrew of her weight roller coaster. Her FIL is diabetic. She is an amazing baker, thank you! Not so great when you try to cut a man off from a piece of cheesecake!

Des Mulrooney

Des is a 22 year old comedian and actor who has performed at country clubs and comedy clubs all over America. He recently co-starred in the upcoming film, The Road Dog with Doug Stanhope, which was directed by Greg Gliena (Meet The Parents). The Road Dog just recently won best picture at the Hollywood Independent Reel Film Festival. Des is a regular opener for Dry Bar’s Andy Beningo as a feature act. He also headlined the Chicago area Comedy Shrine at age 19 and has performed at Zanies, Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, Comedy Vault, CG’s Comedy Club, Kenosha Comedy Club, and more.

Emily Ramirez

Emily is a triple threat: Comedian/Professional Ballerina/Broadway Singer. A graduate of the Second City, Emily is the founding owner of BABS Comedy Club and produces sketch, improv, and standup comedy shows throughout Chicago. When she’s not on stage, she’s either teaching ballet class or sitting on the couch in pajamas with her husband and two little dogs sleeping in her lap.

Patrick Newson

As the younger brother of a sister with diabetes, he spent many a day in the hospital. Weekends and after school were spent sitting in a hospital waiting room. After a while of getting bored, he picked up puppets and began performing small shows for whoever would watch. It was then that Patrick's love of comedy began. He loved watching the smiling faces of people who would otherwise be sad or depressed. Many years later as a stand up/improviser, he still enjoys bringing smiles to people's faces. He has spent time in some of the greatest theaters in the country. Second City, IO Chicago, and The Comedy Store. Patrick looks forward to taking all of these experiences and doing some good for the people who suffer from diabetes.
